ANDRE CASSAR WINS THE MSSF SKEET T4 COMPETITION (06/09/2026)

With the score of 117/125, Andre Cassar was the overall winner of the fourth edition of the MSSF Skeet Competition 50+50+25.

Liam Sciberras finished this competition in second place with the score of 115/125, while Joseph Muscat finished in third with the score of 97/125.

This event was held at the Malta National Shooting Ranges in Siggiewi where the top 3 athletes of this competition shot at a total of 125 targets.

At the start of the competition, all participants shot at 50 targets and the 4 athletes with the best scores advanced and competed on another 50 targets. The rest of the shooters were eliminated.

After 100 targets the athlete with the lowest score got eliminated and the top 3 shooters shot at another 25 targets.

The result after 100 targets was:

2 CASSAR Andre 92/100

3 MUSCAT Joseph 81/100 +3 shoot-off

4 GALEA Mikaela 81/100 +1 shoot-off

Class A score after 50 targets was:

1 CASSAR Andre 46/50

2 SCIBERRAS Liam 42/50

Class B score after 50 targets was:

1 MUSCAT Joseph 42/50

2 GALEA Mikaela 41/50

3 BUTTIĠIEĠ Jamie 40/50

The next competition is the 7th Skeet Selection Shoot 2026 which will be held on the 19 and 20 September at the Malta National Shooting Ranges.

So Close for Malta!

André Cassar endured a heartbreaking 9th place finish in the final qualifying round, scoring 116 — level with Turkey's Mustafa Sahin and France's Casper Maine for the last spot in the Final, only to be eliminated in a shoot-off.

Compatriot Liam Sciberras finished 12th with 113, also giving a solid account of himself on the day.

SCIBERRAS Liam won the All Malta Skeet Competition, which was held at the Malta National Shooting Ranges.

GALEA Mikaela claimed second place, confirming her continuous progress since switching shooting discipline, while newcomer GATT David secured third place showing great potential in the Skeet discipline.

This Event was also the 6th Selection Shoot. It was organised over 2 days with a total of 125 qualifying targets followed by the final.

The six Finalists in the Bib number order according to their qualifying scores were: SCIBERRAS Liam with the score of 119/125, MUSCAT Joseph 109/125 +2 shoot-off, GATT David shot 109/125 +1 shoot-off, GALEA Michaela hit 108/125, BORG Kenneth 102/125 and BUTTIGIEG Jamie scored 98/125.

The Finals Result was:

1 SCIBERRAS Liam 47/60

2 GALEA Mikaela 46/60

3 GATT David 37/50

4 MUSCAT Joseph 26/40

5 BORG Kenneth 17/30

6 BUTTIGIEG Jamie 10/20

The next Skeet Competition is the MSSF Skeet Competition 50+50+25 (T4) which will be held at the National Shooting Ranges in Ta’ Kandja on 6 September 2026.

Andre Cassar delivered an incredible performance at the ESC European Shooting Championship in Poland (03 August 2026)

Team Malta at the European U23 Shotgun Championships – Wrocław, Poland

Leading the Maltese contingent in the Skeet Men category was Andre Cassar, who produced a commendable 117/125, missing the shoot-off for a place in the final by just one clay. He finished an impressive 12th overall among 46 international competitors.

Malta's athletes were supported by an experienced team, with Bruno Gubellini serving as Skeet Team Coach, while John Mary Bugeja undertook official duties in the Trap discipline. MSSF President Mr Sinclair Cassar served as Head of Delegation and also participated in various high-level meetings and ceremonial duties throughout the event.

Team Malta now looks ahead to its next international commitment, the Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy, scheduled from 21 August to 3 September 2026.
