The Malta Shooting Sport Federation (MSSF) is dedicated to promoting firearm safety, legal compliance, and technical excellence across all shooting disciplines. We offer official training courses for beginners preparing for initial licensing, experienced shooters pursuing safety leadership, and members expanding into specialized disciplines.
To enroll in any MSSF course, applicants must first obtain:
Police Conduct Certificate (Local, plus country of origin if non-Maltese).
Medical Certificate (Official doctor's form available on the Malta Police Force website).
Basics of Safe Gun Handling & Responsibility: Essential safety rules, firearm mechanics, handling & legal duties.
Range Conducting Officer (RCO) Certification: Advanced leadership training covering match command protocols, safety enforcement & more.
Licence A: Target Shooter A (Pistol / Rifle / Revolver / Crossbow / Special)
Licence B: Target Shooter B (Clay Pigeon / Tactical Shotgun / Black Powder / Airgun)
Collector: Collector Licence A / Collector Licence A – Special
Complete MSSF Course: Receive your official MSSF Endorsement Letter.
District Police Submission: Submit your Endorsement Letter, Police Conduct, Medical Form, and Application Form to your local station to sit for an interview.
Permit Collection: Present your MSSF Membership Card and Insurance when collecting your approved permit.
Parent/Guardian Membership: A legal guardian must be an active MSSF member (no personal firearms permit required if they don't own the junior’s firearm).
Supervision: Juniors cannot own or carry firearms or ammunition independently. All shooting must be directly supervised on range by a licensed shooter.
